The Sea Ranch home of Bonnie Saland, founder of Philomela, was a dream opportunity of creating a home/studio installation on the sea. Rustic modernism, custom designed steel elements for lightness and strength create the unique atmosphere for this architecturally interesting building. Inside the house you can see the inspiration from the color palettes and materials of Philomela brand but also a place that celebrates the surrounding environment. Almost a third of the house is art studio space and a great deal of materials used are own made. Passion and inspiration for this house projects were drawn from home installations of artists like the Bloomsbury Group, Frida Kahlo, Ray and Charles Eames etc. Architect for the project was Peter Jenny.
